Steven M. Jaffe, Ph.D., Lumencor President and CEO
Steven Jaffe obtained his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1994. Since obtaining his degree he has devoted his energies to the field of emissive display and lighting technologies. He co-founded Quantum Vision, Inc., a start-up focused on developing light engines for HDTV based upon the company’s novel phosphor technology. At Quantum Vision, Dr. Jaffe was responsible for the management of customer relations, operations and product and process development. He led financing rounds raising over $14 million from venture firms, angel investors and strategic customers. He was also the principal on several million dollars of government contracts. He is one of four inventors of the core phosphor technology and also an inventor in nearly all the company’s patents.
Glenn C. Butler, Chairman of the Board
Mr. Butler is a business consultant specializing in emerging growth leadership, business turnarounds, strategic planning, and expert witness testimony on safety and operations. Prior to starting his own consulting business in May 2000, Mr. Butler’s career included 21 years with Atlantic Richfield Company, (ARCO, now BP). He retired from ARCO as the General Manager of the Cherry Point Refinery located in Blaine, Washington. After leaving ARCO, Mr. Butler provided executive leadership services to various companies and organizations on an interim basis. Examples include:
- CEO of MicroGREEN Polymers, Inc., an early stage provider of innovative thermoplastic foaming technology, Arlington, Washington,
- Regional VP for Matrix Services, a national provider of construction and maintenance services to the oil industry, Bellingham, Washington, and
- Director, Western States Petroleum Association, Sacramento, California.
Mr. Butler enjoys working with start-up companies and new technologies. He is a founding member of the Bellingham Angels, a funding group for early stage companies, and is a member of two other angel funding groups.
Robert Greenberg, Director
Bob is a high-tech entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience in growing companies and bringing complex technologies to market. He is a founder and former CTO of Pixelworks, Inc., Prior to Pixelworks, Bob was an engineering manager at InFocus, Inc., a leading manufacturer of business and home theatre projectors. While at InFocus, Bob was responsible for many of the breakthrough projector products that made the company a market leader.
Bob has also held electrical engineering positions at Integrated Measurement Systems (now part of Credence), Floating Point Systems (now part of Sun) and Sperry Univac (now Unisys). Bob received his engineering degrees, a B.S. in electrical engineering and a B.S. in computer engineering, from the University of Michigan.
Lynnor Stevenson, Ph.D.
Dr. Stevenson is a successful entrepreneur with over thirty years experience in the formation and growth of bioscience companies. She currently holds two positions:
- CEO of DesignMedix, a company developing treatments for drug-resistant infectious diseases.
- Managing Partner of Alta Biomedical Group, a consulting firm that handles projects in the commercialization of innovative technology.
Dr. Stevenson has been a member of the early-stage management teams for ten start-up companies, of which six are now public. She was founding CEO for five years and a director for eighteen years of Heska Corporation, an animal health company that develops drugs, vaccines and diagnostics. She was a member of the early-stage teams for Creative BioMolecules (now Curis), AP Pharma, Agen, and Univax (now Nabi).
From 1992 to 1997, Dr. Stevenson served as Professor and Director of Technology Transfer at the University of Oregon where she assisted in the creation of five companies. She earned a Ph.D in Biochemistry from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia and was a Post-doctoral Fellow at Stanford University School of Medicine.
